Protest the Ideology not the vote

Iranians are protesting and I suppose that is something lovers of freedom can take pride in but these protests leave me somewhat baffled. The Iranians are contesting the elections under the Ayatollah controlled regime but they are not contesting the regime itself which begs the question: what policies are Mousavi planning to enact that are so drastically different than Ahmadinejad? The answer is his policies cannot and would not stray too far from what the current President is doing because Mousavi, as the rest of the candidates, were prescreened by the "power that be" in Iran.

Today I committed to the largest purchase of my entire life. The only problem was that I didn’t even have a say in it. I am now the not so proud owner of Government Motors (GM) and quite frankly I think I could have done a little better with my $10.5 billion dollars. As though we needed anymore proof that the Conservative party, led by Stephen Harper, has redefined conservatism in Canada as a light form of liberalism Harper has committed to, if not the largest, one of the largest government bailouts in Canadian history and quite frankly Canadians had absolutely no say (unless you are a part of the CAW). I officially see no reason to support the Conservative Party of Canada over the Liberal party (or the NDP for that matter).

Answering: "Obama Follows Christs Instructions On Prayer" Stage Left
written by the leftist over at stageleft. In sum his entry is basking Obama in praise for deciding not to celebrate the American day of prayer as a nation. The leftist confuses an obvious slight at Christianity in America as proof that Obama is following Jesus
Harper: Liberal Light

The latest poll numbers don't bold well for the Conservative party of Canada. The Liberals have retaken the lead in Ontario, up in the West and way ahead of the Conservatives in Quebec (though they still trail the Bloc). It seems clear that Canadians are deciding that as long as the government is going to spend record amounts and give away bailouts to every teary eyed multi-national company it may as well be a socialist-light Liberal government. To give Harper his due he seems to play well for Canada on the world stage because his rhetoric matches what most of the worlds non-elite know to be the truth. The world is not better off with governments all around the world taking over and bailing out privately owned enterprises.

I haven't commented much on foreign policy since the new American administration was sworn in but the latest negotiation tactics are somewhat baffling.
Washington has told Moscow that Russian help in resolving Iran's nuclear program would make its missile shield plans for Europe unnecessary, a Russian daily said on Monday, citing White House sources.
U.S. President Barack Obama made the proposal on Iran in a letter to his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, Kommersant said, referring to unidentified U.S. officials.

"Family Planning" Proposed to Stimulate Economy
by wiseprince
Mon, Jan 26, 2009 at 09:57:28 PM EST
The crooks in Washington have no respect for peoples hard earned money. In what is a huge slap in the face to everyone who works hard for their money the democrats in congress, lead by Nancy Pelosi, and of course the new Leader Barack Obama have decided that one of the best ways to stimulate the economy is too pump hundreds of millions of dollars into state medicaid in order to finance contraceptions.
Her Justification

Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost,” Pelosi responded. “The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children’s health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those--one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.”
America's Golden Calf Moment

For more than a year the American mainstream media have been worshiping the one who they wanted to be President, Barack Obama. That live onair praise has turned into a full blown act of idol worship by the majority of the United States of America. The media have over the past year refused to ask this man a difficult or pressing question. They have never questioned his motives and they even refused to bring up the issue of his non-existent birth certificate. If a free press is truly as important a pillar as we have always assumed it is in a democracy then we may indeed be watching a once great nation in its last throes.

One of the oddest condemnations of Israel's attacks have been that they are not measured or disproportionate. Now, if you were reading this site back in 2006 when Israel was destroying Lebanon you would see that I can be quite sympathetic to the plight of the Arabs who get bombed by Israel. There is however a slight difference this time around. Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers and Israel started a war over it. Not only is that not measured but it wasn't at all wise as they, by all accounts, achieved nothing during the war of 2006. This time around a war was declared on Israel...

Rarely am I able to compare Canadian companies with those in Saudi Arabia, Nigeria or Afghanistan but Bell Mobility is certainly dangerously close to that line. In our latest battle they have decided that my service has been upgraded (with the poor quality of the service I can hardly disagree that it needs to be upgraded) and my contract has been extended for another 3 years. Sounds fine right; I mean this happens hundreds of times per day no doubt. There is only one problem, I didn't upgrade my service, I was never contacted, never signed anything so how did it happen? Well, apparently Bell mobility knows what I want better than I do. After an hour of arguing with them (keep in mind we did this for an hour or so about 2 weeks back) they have unilaterally decided that we did in fact upgrade our service and if we want out of the contract we will have to pay them $200+ dollars.
