I Want GM To Fail!

Today I committed to the largest purchase of my entire life. The only problem was that I didn’t even have a say in it. I am now the not so proud owner of Government Motors (GM) and quite frankly I think I could have done a little better with my $10.5 billion dollars. As though we needed anymore proof that the Conservative party, led by Stephen Harper, has redefined conservatism in Canada as a light form of liberalism Harper has committed to, if not the largest, one of the largest government bailouts in Canadian history and quite frankly Canadians had absolutely no say (unless you are a part of the CAW). I officially see no reason to support the Conservative Party of Canada over the Liberal party (or the NDP for that matter).
Canadians must know that there is a big fraud afoot when none of the parties disagree in the least with one of the biggest decisions in recent memory for a Canadian minority government. There is effectively no opposition party on this issue and yet it seems clear to me that the majority of Canadians are completely against the idea of running Government Motors (GM). Not only are Canadians now part owners of GM but we more than likely have zero say in the direction of the company. No say over the cars it makes, no say over dealership and/or manufacturing closings and very little say over the final look of our new company.
If we are being honest, capitalism, free market capitalism, is dead in the automotive industry. It is impossible for me to believe in good faith that the governments of Canada and the United states who are in charge of policy making will not come up with policies that do not grossly favor GM and Chrysler over Ford (who has yet to take bailout money and bow to the will of the would be fascists in Ottawa and Washington).
Barack Obama & by proxy Stephen Harper wants us to believe that They are doing this to "Level the playing field" but nothing could be further from the truth (which shouldn’t come as a surprise from someone who, while telling the world that he wants nothing less that to run the auto industry proceeds to explain by which means he will run it). It is simply impossible for Ford to compete with the policy makers and their former free market competitors. What is more than likely to happen is the government will enact laws that will force Fords hand in terms of what cars to produce (which happens to be the same cars that people don’t want even now). Without the governments’ backing it’s hard to see how they will keep up but here’s to hoping Ford finds a way. They are after all Capitalisms last stand in the auto industry.
The notion that this is an attempt to level the playing field is laughable enough but I think the quote of the day goes to our friendly socialist down south:
In other words the government realizes that this is anything but what the people want, anything but what the people voted for, anything but what free people expect of their government but this is how it has to be because, to quote John Kerry, "Government knows best."
Let us presume for a moment that government does no best (which I will never believe). The idea that they know best so they must take away the freedoms of the people, even the freedom to fail and lose millions if not billions, is something I will never bow to. Government needs to stay out of the auto industry and focus on securing the people of the country and fixing our roads. So with that in mind I will state very clearly:
I WANT GM TO FAIL!

It’s a sacrifice you may not have chose to make, but a sacrifice you are nevertheless called to make so that your children and all of our children can grow up in an America that still makes things, that still builds cars, that still strives for a better future.
